Two Illinois alums, Brian Campbell & Thomas Detry, made their Masters debut this week.

Both golfers had different round one experiences as Thomas Detry had a +7 round one which didn't set him up well to make the cut. He would go 3+ on the front nine, 4+ on the back, with two birdies on the day. On the surface, Brian Campbell played an event-free first round, finishing the day even and right in the thick of things. The day, however, featured four bogeys, two on each half of the 18 holes, requiring four birdies from the Illinois alum, and he got the final of those four on the 18th hole.

Day two was simple for Campbell on the front nine with seven pars, but a tricky back nine led to three bogeys, four on the day, which caused Campbell to finish +1. It was good enough to make the cut, though, as the tournament's cut line would be +2, meaning everyone whose score was +2 or better was safe. The line is set for the top 50 remaining golfers, plus those tied at that score. Thomas Detry would have a better day two but far from what he needed to climb back into the tournament. He would shoot a 74, two over in the round, and finished at +9 for the tournament.

Brian Campbell will tee off for his third round at 10:20 a.m. with Byeong Hun An.
