‘Stalin raking Hindi issue before polls, BJP respects all mother tongues’: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy at WITT 2025

At WITT 2025 Summit, Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy accused Tamil Nadu CM Stalin of raising the anti-Hindi issue for political gains, saying that the BJP respects all mother tongues and does not neglect South India.

New Delhi: At TV9 Network’s What India Thinks Today Summit (WITT) 2025, Telangana BJP chief and Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy addressed the row surrounding the Hindi language issue. Speaking on the matter, he accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin of raising the anti-Hindi narrative for political gains ahead of the elections.

During his session, Reddy responded to the claims that Hindi is being imposed on South India. He said, “I am from South India, but I try to speak Hindi. I did not study Hindi, but I learned it while interacting with people, and I make an effort to speak it.” He said that no individual in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, or Kerala has been forced to learn Hindi in the last 10 years under PM Modi’s leadership.

BJP not neglecting Southern states: G Kishan Reddy

Referring to New Education Policy (NEP) introduced by the central government, Reddy said, “The three-language formula was introduced during the Congress era. When the new education policy was introduced in 2022, almost 33 years later, Stalin raised this issue now, just before the elections. For five years, he remained silent, but now he is using the language issue to divert attention from corruption, the liquor scam, and dynastic politics.”

Reddy said that BJP does not neglect any language. He said, “We respect all mother tongues. Whenever PM Modi visits any state, he greets people in the local language. This reflects the respect he gives to every regional language.”

When asked if the central government is neglecting South India, Reddy rejected the claim. He said that the BJP is working towards strengthening its presence in the South.

“BJP is also a political party. We want to grow stronger in the South. We already have governments in two southern states – Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh. Under PM Modi’s leadership, we are continuously working to win the hearts and trust of the people in the South. We do not neglect any state,” he said.

Responding to criticism of ‘double-engine government’ slogan, Reddy dismissed claims that BJP neglects non-BJP-ruled states. He said, “We are a people’s party. Forty years ago, people used to say BJP was not even a party, but today we are in power because people trust us. The Congress, DMK, and other dynastic parties treat politics like a private company to earn money.”

Reddy further said that BJP’s governance is not based on family politics. He said, “I come from an ordinary farmer’s family, yet today I am speaking on this platform in Delhi. No one in my family is in politics. Unlike Congress, where after Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi took over, then again Rahul Gandhi, and next it will be Priyanka Gandhi’s children.”

He praised BJP’s achievements, particularly the abrogation of Article 370, saying, “If the BJP had not come to power, Article 370 would never have been removed.”

Reddy also took a dig at nepotism in politics, contrasting it with the BJP’s leadership. He said, “Even God does not know who will become the party president after JP Nadda in BJP, but everyone knows who will become the president after MK Stalin in DMK. Similarly, everyone knows who will be the president of BRS after KCR. Everyone knows who will be the next president of Congress. Sonia Gandhi has Rahul, and after Rahul, Priyanka, and then her son… this will continue because Rahul Gandhi is not married.”

He further said that BJP came into politics to reform the country, saying, “Only through politics can we dream of a developed India and build it. If BJP had not come to power and if Narendra Modi had not become the Prime Minister, Article 370 would never have been removed. We solved the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute, which had existed for 5000 years, and ended Pakistan’s ISI activities in India.”
