A man in Mississippi bit off the nose of another man hours after they got into an argument while playing golf earlier this week, according to authorities.

Mark Curtis Wells, of Biloxi, turned himself in Wednesday following the incident that occurred at the parking lot of the Hollywood Casino, WXXV Fox 25 reported, citing Bay St. Louis Police Department chief Toby Schwartz.

The 51-year-old Wells, the unnamed victim, and others had been arguing about a golf round they played at Bridges Golf Course, next door to the casino, earlier in the day, according to Bay St. Louis police.

They continued bickering over the round throughout the day until it escalated in the parking lot of the Hollywood Casino around 9:30 p.m. when Wells reportedly bit off the man's nose before fleeing in a dark-colored Tesla, the New York Post reported.

Officers were responding to Hollywood Casino over a call about an assault in the parking lot when they found the victim with his nose bitten off.

The man's nose was not found and he was taken to the Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.

His face was left disfigured from the attack, police were cited as saying by the New York Post.

Wells has been charged with felony mayhem, which carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison if convicted.

He was booked into Hancock County jail at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, but was released shortly later upon paying 10% of his $50,000 bond.

In a similar incident, a former executive of the plant-based food company Beyond Meat allegedly bit a man's nose outside an Arkansas football stadium during an altercation that happened in September.

Beyond Meat's former Chief Operating Officer Doug Ramsey was leaving the Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville on Sept. 17 after watching a University of Arkansas football match when a car pulled up in front of him.

The car ended up hitting the front tire of Ramsey's car and an altercation broke out between the two motorists.

Ramsey, 53, allegedly punched the other man and also bit his nose, ripping the flesh on the tip of his nose.

He also threatened to kill the man, a bystander told authorities.

Ramsey, who left Beyond Meat following the incident, was arrested and charged with terroristic threatening, third-degree battery and criminal mischief. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

His trial is scheduled to take place on Dec. 20, Fox 16 Arkansas reported.
