ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team hits the links for the seventh tournament of the 2020-21 campaign on Friday. This week is an entry in the Furman Intercollegiate, a 54-hole event Friday through Sunday at Furman Golf Course.
The Mocs look for continued strong play from junior
A.J. Lintunen. The native of Finland leads the squad with a 72.55 scoring average, 72.35 in his six starts. He's registered 72.28 strokes per 18 over his last 11 events, +0.47 over those 32 cards. He has two wins and three top 5s this season.
Paul Conroy was added to the roster in January and is off to an impressive start with two top 10s in his first four events coming over from Ireland. He's counted all nine rounds in three team events, a 73.56 average.
That duo is joined by
Leon Bader,
Alex Cobb and
Matt Smith. Bader and Cobb take the place of
Connor Nolan and
Oliver Simonsen from the Linger Longer lineup. Nolan is at Mackenzie Tour Q School this week, while Simonsen withdrew the last time out due to injury.
Gabe Hunter get a chance to make his mark playing as an individual.
Smith had the low round at Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee with a second round 69. Cobb claims the third-lowest round of the season with a 67 at the Sea Palms Invitational. Bader is making his fifth start. All three can lay claim to coveted positions with just one tournament left in the regular season, the Middle Tennessee Invitational April 11-12 at the Grove.
