A promising teenage cricketer found hanged in the garage of his home had earlier threatened to kill himself if he and his girlfriend didn't get back together, an inquest heard.

Morgan Rhys Davies, 19, was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly after midnight on Monday, June 25, 2018.

The previous day he had collected his car from a cricket club, played golf and gone out with friends, the inquest in Wrexham heard.

The self-employed apprentice bricklayer returned home that evening and said he was going into the garage "for a minute", which was normal.

But police were asked to attend his home address at about 11.15pm following concerns for his safety by Grace Williams after he had "threatened to kill himself if they didn't get back together."

When access was gained to the garage, he was discovered hanging inside.

Efforts were made to save the former Ysgol Byn Alyn and Coleg Cambria student, but he had died.

A note was also discovered on a piece of paper.

Coroner for North Wales East and Central, John Gittins, said a post-mortem investigation found the cause of death was hanging.

Mr Gittins was satisfied Mr Davies had taken his own life and recorded a conclusion of suicide.

Offering his condolences, the coroner said it was a "sad and tragic death".

Following the inquest, in a heartfelt statement his family and friends said: "Morgan was caring, thoughtful and larger than life. The fact that he is no longer with us has left a gaping hole in all our lives and it is almost impossible to put into words just how we feel.

"The last few months have been made tolerable because Morgan's friends, including his girlfriend Grace, have rallied to remember a young man who lived life to the full and was always there with a laugh and a smile.

"His family thank them for their support, kind thoughts and wishes.

"We sincerely hope they will all remain part of our lives. That will be the best tribute to Morgan.

"His family and friends miss him every second of every day."
