KARACHI: Defence Authority Country & Golf Club (DAC&GC) hosted the 3rd Charity Golf Tournament, which was organised in support of Deaf Reach Schools and Training Centres in Karachi on Sunday.
The event started with over 70 avid golfers teeing off on gun shot to play an 18-hole tournament. The tournament was riveting to the very end and the golfers triumphantly finished all 18 holes by midday.
The closing ceremony was sponsored by Soneri Bank to acknowledge the competitors and present the trophies. This was followed by a moving performance of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s ‘Wohe Khuda Hai’ in Pakistan Sign Language by the students of Deaf Reach School.
Title sponsor for the event was DAC&GC, while the 18-hole sponsors included SC Johnson, Mavericks, Resource Linked, Aeon & Trisl, RES Group, Artistic Milliners, Mediplas Innovations, Golf Maniacs, Emkay Lines, Mobil, Scilife, Touchpoint and iTextiles. The Silver sponsors Kalsoft, Falcon I PVT Ltd, IGI Insurance, KE and McDonald’s contributed heavily to make deaf education a reality for children across Pakistan.
The trophies for the award ceremony were sponsored by Gravitas Packaging. The beverage partners for the tournament were Pakistan Beverages.The winners were Nasrullah Sheikh (Longest Drive), Abdullah Nasir (Closest to Line), Asad I A Khan (Nearest to Pin), Wasif Khalid (Handicap 12 to 18 2nd Runner Up), Zahid Khan (Handicap 12 to 18 1st Runner Up), Asghar Ali (Handicap 12 to 18 Winner), Taha Paracha (Handicap 00 to 11 2nd Runner Up), Lt Col Mansoor Ali (Handicap 00 to 11 1st Runner Up) and Lt Col Zahid Iqbal (Handicap 00 to 11 Winner).
