Topping Out ceremony at Creek Golf Course

1992 - The Dubai Creek Golf Club and Marina Complex opened to the public with a Topping Out ceremony to celebrate the formal last stage of construction of the Golf Clubhouse. Engineer Stephen Trutch used a gold trowel to finish the last phase of the construction. The project, begun in September 1990, is scheduled to be completed later this year, possibly in November. “If you had seen this place before, it was just the most awful, scrappy piece of desert,” said Michael Limb, accounts director for Total Communications, the public relations firm that represents the club. Now, the 18-hole, full-scale championship golf course is an 80-hectare green carpet of grass sprinkled with trees, flowers and six lakes that serve as the reservoir.
