SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The YWCA hosted a golf tournament fundraiser to support two of their youth programs.

Some of the proceeds of this golf tournament will go towards the Children Who Witness Violence Program. This program provides therapy for children who have either experienced or even witnessed abuse and violence in their life.

The funds will also help the YWCA with their Healthy and Empowering Relationship Education program which supports Springfield students by teaching them about healthy relationships and friendships.

President Kim Casineau with the YWCA told 22News that there were 132 golf foursomes for today’s fundraiser event, “I am just so grateful for all the support that we have gotten from the community. This by the means of throwing a golf tournament I understand was a pretty short window and we have had such an amazing response and I just can’t be more proud of the community that we serve.”

She says this tournament was a great way help the YWCA to enhance their programs and raise awareness about the work that they do as an organization. On top of raising money for a good cause, YWCA celebrated 155 years of service on Monday.
